Answer: (b)

Sum of 30 numbers = 30×40 = 1200

Sum of 40 numbers = 40 × 30 = 1200

Question :7

In hotel Trident, the rooms are numbered from 101 to 130 on the first floor, 221 to 260 on the second floor and 306 to 345 on the third floor. In the month of June 2012, the room occupancy was 60% on the first floor, 40% on the second floor and 75% on the third floor. If it is also known that the room charges are Rs. 200, Rs. 100 and Rs. 150 on each of the floors, then find the average income per room for the month of June 2012.

Answer: (c)

The number of rooms is 18 + 16 + 30 on the three floors respectively.

Total revenues are: 18*200 + 16 *100 + 30*150 = 9700 required average = 9700/110 = 88.18.

Note here that if you could visualize here that since the number of rooms is 110 the decimal values cannot be. (c) or (d) which effectively means that options 3 and 4 are rejected.

Hence age of the son = 2 years

Answer: (c)

Third number

Question :10

The average weight of A, B and C is 84 kg. If D joins the group, the average weight of the group becomes 80 kg. If another man E who weighs 3 kg more than D replaces A, then the average of B, C, D and E becomes 79 kg. What is the weight of A?

Answer: (c)

A + B + C = 3 × 84 = 252 kg

A + B + C + D = 4 × 80 = 320 kg

∴ D = 320 – 252 = 68 kg

∴ E = 68 + 3 = 71 kg

Now, ${320 - A + 71}/4 = 79$

∴ A = 75 kg
